...founder of Heartprint Images. I’ve been passionate about photography since before my Grandmother gave me my first real camera when I graduated 8th grade. This passion was fueled as I developed my own shots in a darkroom in a high school photography class then continued taking classes in college. I think my best education has been through experience, the school of life, since I'm rarely without a camera. My eye is always searching for that creative angle, that beautiful scene, that touching moment.
As my awesome children have blessed my life, I found my love of photography combined perfectly with a newfound interest – scrapbooking. I’ve loved spreading out all the fun and memorable pictures, along with all the stickers and fancy papers, onto the dining room table to assemble the perfect page. Pages filled with precious memories and journaled thoughts pack album after album. These labors of love are treasures for our family and heritages for our children. In recent years, I’ve discovered digital scrapbooking and heritage movie making which have nearly replaced the “old” way I used to scrapbook. It’s nice to be able to layout several pages in an album once, then make several copies of that book for each of my children and extended family members. I love it when my kids pull those albums off the shelf, and then journey down Memory Lane.
Another thing we love to do is cuddle on the couch and relive some of our most precious moments on the big screen (well, the one on our den wall that is). My creative juices get a great workout when I sit down to produce our home movies. It’s such a fun outlet for me and to top it off, I get to watch and listen to my husband and kids giggle and chatter as we all revisit our history in this cozy way. It warms my heart when I think about how, years from now, my kids might one day be sitting on a couch in their homes, with their kids, watching these same movies.
Whether I’m shooting stills or video my focus is the same and I can summarize it in a word – HEART! I’m looking for that tenderness and raw emotion, the stuff that touches one’s soul and leaves a permanent impression, or Heartprint. It can be in a loving look, a gentle touch, a caring gesture, a playful laugh, a sad tear, an angry tantrum or whatever humanness is coming out in those moments. When I present a gallery of images to a client, my hope is that they will feel connected because I’ve captured them, as they are, on that day, and in those moments…the good, the bad, and the sometimes not-so-pretty, but oh-so-real!
A primary goal as I launched my passion into a business was to give families an alternative for obtaining professional quality photographs, that they could then use to do their own creating. There are so many options in the digital arena for having portraits printed and gift items created such as calendars, Christmas cards, photo albums and more. It’s become very easy for anyone with a computer to comparison shop, then upload photos to a myriad of sites to begin creating their own mementos.
Heartprint Images offers this option by giving clients control over their images. For those who would rather just receive prints and more, a convenient online ordering gallery is available. My goal is to make it easy, give you choices, and provide the highest level of customer satisfaction in this business.
I’m always on the hunt for the best resources for getting shots from my camera to my wall, an album, a slideshow or a keepsake gift for someone special. I’m also very concerned with security, storage and other issues relative to digital imaging. I love to share a good find so keep an eye on the DigiLinks page for my latest discoveries.
Check out my portfolio and I hope you like what you see. I’d love the opportunity to capture your heartprints and to help you create a legacy library for your family.
